Acumatica-Shopify Native Integration & Gesso Accelerator Demo

Introduction

Hi, my name is Calvin Barrett, Strategic Partnership Manager here at Acro Commerce.

Today, I'd like to run through a demo of the Acumatica-Shopify native integration, along with highlighting why you might want to look at a decoupled solution such as our in-house accelerator, Gesso. It goes beyond just a basic integration to help you digitize more complex sales flows.

Shopify & Acumatica Integration

I have an example here of a native Shopify store with an integration to Acumatica. We have a list of battery-related or solar products on our store, as well as a catalog that you can always access—similar products, deals, and contacts.

I recently placed an order for two products. To show that it’s available in Acumatica and synced together, I’ll go into our sales orders and look at the most recent one. As you can see, the price and units match.

Limitations of Native Shopify Account Pages

Now, that’s great, but what if I wanted to go beyond that? I’ve signed into an account, and when I go to my account history, all I can view is my order history and account details. However, when you need clients to access purchase orders or account invoices, this becomes a bigger challenge.

Imagine if your purchase orders involve complex flows where engineering drawings are sent back and forth. This goes beyond just having a basic account page.

Introducing Gesso: A Decoupled Accelerator

That’s why we created Gesso, our in-house accelerator, which allows you to connect directly to Acumatica and eCommerce platforms. This helps you maximize your potential and use the system in a way that best fits your business—rather than forcing your business to fit into a system that doesn’t work for you.

Gesso in Action

I have a basic example of Gesso set up here. Like any eCommerce platform, we can view our store with all available products. However, I want to focus specifically on the account page. I’ve already signed in, so I’ll go to my account.

Many of these features are dynamically pulled from Shopify, such as account pages, addresses, and orders. If I check my orders, I can see that my order has come through.

Accessing Invoices Through Gesso

Previously, on the Shopify native page, invoices were inaccessible. Gesso allows us to pull them directly from Acumatica.

To confirm that it's available on both ends, I’ll go through the invoice order. After purchasing the product, I created an invoice, set it up, and now it’s loaded with all my details. The two products appear here. To verify that we’re pulling this directly from Acumatica, I’ll go back into our sales orders, invoices, and finally, pull up the invoice—there are the two products.

Why Use a Decoupled Accelerator?

This is just one example of why you might want to use a decoupled accelerator for your business. If you’re facing similar challenges, we’d love to hear from you and see how we can help bridge the gap—making a system work for you, rather than forcing you to work around your system.

Closing

My name is Calvin Barrett, and I hope you have a great day!
