Working With An Agency Accelerator
Jace Anderson, Director of Account Management, explores the dynamic world of technology accelerators. From their roots in ecommerce startups to diverse front-end, back-end, and UX applications, accelerators are reshaping the tech landscape.
Discover how our Gesso accelerator speeds up time-to-market and redefines the ecommerce experience through Jace's expert lens and vivid examples.
Accelerators are a hot topic right now. It started with startup accelerators and has evolved across the technology to a point where you have accelerators for everything: front end, back end, UX and everything in between.
As a commerce agency that has developed its own accelerator, I feel the need to take it upon myself to bring you an imaginary example. As a visual learner myself, I hope my anecdotes and examples help paint a picture of the pros and cons of using an accelerator and what it truly looks like working with our team when empowered by our Gesso accelerator.
How an Accelerator Improves Time-to-Market
If you’re looking to utilize an accelerator, it’s already likely that time-to-market is a huge factor for your business.
When working with Acro Commerce, we’re able to lean on the pre-integrated, robust design system and partners to spin up a launch-ready site with little more than a brand package from your team. Would we ever launch this? No, but can we? Absolutely, yes. In many cases, this would be called a Minimum Viable Product (MVP), as it can (in some cases) accomplish the very basic desired outcomes one would expect from an ecommerce site.
This acceleration helps our production team work in the spirit of true agile fashion, continually delivering a “launchable” product. At this point, it’s about optimizing and prioritizing your budget and milestones respectively. We work collaboratively with your team to identify high-priority integrations, designs, and custom components to roadmap the next 5-8 sprints, mapping them out and planning efforts accordingly. With an accelerator framework to build off of, we’re able to maximize the budget by focusing on components that come standard, others that need little configuration and what needs to be customized to fit the experience.
The end goal is a product you’re happy to take to market, which eases the transition for your customers to start purchasing directly from your business. In getting to that point, our process allows you to manage deliverables (scope), budgets and timelines on a continual basis. Our team ensures that your project team is well-informed throughout the build to manage these measurables and make informed decisions, even when considering highly technical developments.
While the road is different for every client, and I’m using one of the more straightforward examples, this is a process that we have found minimizes the time-to-value for our clients. However, this is a likely customer journey for mid-market manufacturers looking to explore or optimize their D2C channel.
