Can customer passwords be migrated to BigCommerce?

BigCommerce is a hosted ecommerce solution with its own password encryption parameters. This is a big plus for security, but it means there is no way to migrate customer passwords from other platforms to BigCommerce.

Can customers’ credit card information be transferred?

Short answer, no. The most common customer-related details you can easily migrate are

  • First name, last name, email, phone.
  • Address: Street address, zip code, city, state, country.
  • Customer order history.
  • Customer newsletter opt-in data.
  • Customer groups (optional).

Can order information can be migrated to BigCommerce successfully?

The following data points can transfer from orders:

  • General order details — Status, currency, total, history, comments, dates, etc.
  • Product details — Product name, product description, model/SKU, quantity, price, tax, optional information, etc.
  • Customer details — First name, last name, email, billing and shipping addresses.

What are the product-related fields that are transferable to BigCommerce?

  • Product identifiers — Name, SKU, MPN, UPC/EAN, GTN, BPN.
  • Product descriptions — Full description and short description.
  • Product price — Default price, special price, cost, MSRP.
  • Physical attributes — Weight, width, height, depth/length, etc.
  • Variants & options — Price, special price and name.
  • Images — Product/featured images, image alt text, image title, additional images.
  • SEO information — Meta description, URL, page title, as well as  301 redirects or rewrite.
  • Product inventory — Availability, status, the quantity in stock, and variation details.
  • Product links — Manufacturer/brand, categories, Related Products.

Can reviews be migrated to BigCommerce?

That’s a great big yes! Product reviews, along with the review details such as author, comment, rating, stats and date, can all be information synced during migration.

Will my coupons and discounts be migratable?

Multiple data points can be migrated for discounts: Coupon codes, coupon name, discount type, discount amount, expiry date, minimum purchase, allowed products, allowed categories, limit per coupon and limit per user are all data points that can be captured and transferred.
